A native of the Finger Lakes Region of New York State, Mark has lived the past 13 years in Raleigh,North Carolina. He began his wildlife art career at an early age, perfecting a discipline of acrylics on canvas and non-traditional surfaces such as river stone, rough-cut pine and sandblasted redwood.

Mark's research and art adventures to sketch and photograph wildlife have taken him to the Masai Mara in Kenya's Savanna, the Grand Tetons in Wyoming, Alaska's Baranoff Islands and annual trips to Yellowstone National Park and many remote wilderness areas in Montana. He is a participating artist in various wildlife art shows across the country, and his art has been exhibited in galleries in the Adirondack mountains of New York as well as in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina.

Mark has been featured artist and contributed to such conservation groups as Quail Unlimited and Ducks Unlimited and his art has been featured in the North Carolina State Wildlife Calendar. He has had several appearances as a guest artist on the nationally syndicated PBS show Paint!Paint!Paint!.

Mark Slawson's "Solidarity of the Pack" and "Heart of the Pack were created exclusively for his series of NC State limited edition art prints. His original paintings were created from studies of a group of captive wolves in a remote area of Montana.
